Spring solstice was celebrated with a wellness retreat created by Heather Paine of South Burlington, Casey Webster of Essex and Taraleigh Silberberg of Burlington. The retreat called, Spring into “Soul”stice, is a play on words to symbolize a day of peace, harmony and joy using the elements of life, Paine said.
Paine and Webster own Candles and Creation in South Burlington, and Silberberg owns The Healthy Hippie Magazine. The retreat was held at the All Souls Interfaith Gathering in Shelburne on March 21.
Candles and Creations is a boutique in the Blue Mall in South Burlington, Paine said. “Our mission is to be the nexus in the community for art philanthropy and wellness,” she said. “We have partnered with The Healthy Hippie who has a similar mission. We wanted to have a space where we could bring the community together to take a day and to reenergize for the spring equinox.”
Planning began in November for this event that will be held annually. Twenty-five people registered.
Among the activities were meditation, drumming, dancing, yoga and deeksha healing to remove deep rooted stress and rejuvenate the whole system and promoting wellness, Paine said.
Inspiring world music played as people danced with Joan White-Hansen of Charlotte in a JourneyDance, a celebration of loving your body and loving your life, she told the crowd. “JourneyDance connects you to your innate sense of joy,” she said. “Your mind becomes clear, free and positive as we journey through the elements and chakras to find inner rhythm and powerful expression.”
Joan White Hansen is a certified JourneyDance and Kripalu Yoga Dance Instructor. For more information call 425-7145.
